Kooth – An online mental wellbeing community

Join Kooth to receive, free anonymous, and safe mental wellbeing support. It doesn’t matter how big or small your concern is, the Kooth community is available to support you through it all.

Kooth is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and can be accessed  from noon until 10pm (weekdays) and from 6pm until 10pm (Saturday and Sundays). Answer a few simple questions to sign up, then log into to read articles, engage with people your age, or simply speak to a counsellor online.

Self-referral services

Sometimes, if you’re experiencing mental ill-health, you’ll need help. And it’s better to seek help as early as possible. You can use these self-referral services to speak to a professional:

  • Outreach and Support OASIS If you’re aged 14-35 and live in Lambeth, Southwark or Lewisham, you can use this service to discuss any unusual experiences, for example, if you’ve been hearing voices or feeling paranoid.
  • Bromley Community Wellbeing Service:  This service in Bromley is specifically designed to support children and young people (under the age of 18) with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties.
  • Baseline Drop In Centre: Lewisham. Provides advice and support for young people not in education, education and training (NEET), aged 16–18 years (or up to 25 for those with additional needs). Tel: 020 8314 7549.
  • Compass@THEHUB (Lewisham): If you live in Lewisham, aged 10-19,  you can use this free, confidential health and wellbeing service for children and young people where you can discuss issues related to drugs, alcohol, emotional, mental and sexual health.
  • Live Well Greenwich provides information and support for young people in Greenwich.
  • Headspace Greenwich and Headspace Bexley. HeadSpace has been designed for young people by other young people to check how they feel and even take a test to find out if they need help with their emotions. Depending on the results, the site can offer young people living in Bexley and Greenwich the option to self-refer directly into their local Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services.
  • Family Action Family Action’s Children & Families Services work with children, young people (offering holistic family intervention to young carers aged 8–18 years and other family members (12 week support model), parents, carers and the wider family network to ensure the family is able to realise its full potential.
  • Southwark Wellbeing Hub: Need information and support about your own wellbeing or someone close to you? Live in Southwark? Use the Southwark Wellbeing Hub to find relevant information and support.
  • The Nest: Mental wellbeing advice and support for young people aged 13-25 in Southwark.

Talking therapies are a specific service for people aged 18 and over experiencing depression, anxiety and worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, traumatic memories. Find your borough below to access further information:

Speak to your GP or a healthcare professional

If you are suffering from mental ill-health and you feel the services listed above aren’t enough, make an appointment with your GP or speak to a healthcare professional. They will be able to refer you to services that can provide additional support, such as:

Child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS):
